Fair trade

Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the South (Official definition, FINE, 2001).

Through its purchasing and catering policy, Accor supports fair trade and promotes it among its guests. This commitment is inscribed in the Group's sustainable development strategy: promoting local economic development is indeed one of Earth Guest program's 8 priorities.

In France, 300 tons of fair trade products are consumed in our hotels every year. Accor is thus France's leading consumer (excluding supermarkets and hypermarkets) of fair trade hot beverages. In 2009, 45% of hot beverages served in our hotels in France were fair trade.
